Purpose
The goal of this website is to support the activities and projects of the AAN - keeping alumni organized and in touch, while promoting and accelerating Arcosanti and arcology.
Registering - Creating an Account
- This is a public website, with portions intended only for Ar/Cosanti alumni, including Elderhostel and Haystack participants.
- If you are an alum, please register (left column - Create an Account). Fill out the requested information. This will go into the alumni database, which is kept in synch with the complete database of workshop participants at Arcosanti. This information also is used in the Alumni Directory.
- After completing the information you will be emailed information on how to log into the site. You will be able to view the alumni portions of the site.
Features
This site has the following features -
- Based on secure and proven open-source technologies, including Drupal, PHP, MySQL. Drupal is used by many non-profits, corporations, and the US federal government, including NASA and the Obama adminstration (whitehouse.gov, recovery.gov, etc)
- Group and team editing of content and images.
- Extensive support for photo-galleries, slideshows and Flash.
- Live RSS feeds from arcosanti.org and other sites.
- Links to related resources, including alumni sites.
- Online payment for dues and donations. Uses secure links to Paypal. Accept all major credit cards.
- Project areas to track status of each project.
- Alumni Directory - viewable by Workshop year or last name. Searchable by last name.
- Links to related resources, including alumni sites, blogs, businesses.
- Blogs.
- Forums.
- Newsletter support. Manage subscribers' list. Display archive of newsletters. RSS feed of newsletters.
- Alumni events. Manage upcoming events. Display archives of past events (pictures, summaries, etc).
Help Needed
The site is always improving. There is a lot we want to do with the AAN and with this website. You can help in the following ways -
- Submit pictures to one of the galleries.
- Submit stories, rememberances to the oral history.
- Editing. Create and edit content.
- Graphics - to improve the site.
- Drupal. If you have experience or are willing to learn, there is a lot that can be done with this highly-popular tool.
